Si Ma Yi is the youthful leader of the Si Ma Clan, a highly prosperous and affluent merchant family that holds significant sway in both political and economic circles. Having displayed exceptional talent for generating wealth for her clan from an early age, Si Ma Yi has inherited the mantle of power from the clan elders. The members of the clan operate discreetly, strategically positioning themselves to maximize profits without regard for the prevailing political climate. They wield influence through a group of skilled mercenary assassins who aid them in manipulating political affairs. Notably, these mercenaries possess unique abilities despite their disabilities, and they are led by Liao Yuan Huo, a renowned “one-eyed” assassin who is widely acknowledged as the best in the country.
The narrative commences with the assassination of Xu Lin, an advisor to Dong Zhuo, carried out with the intention of impeding Dong Zhuo’s influence over the various merchant clans.
As the story unfolds, Si Ma Yi and Liao Yuan Huo find themselves reluctantly entangled in the conflicts of the late Han Dynasty. Si Ma Yi becomes entangled in the clutches of Cao Cao, while Liao Yuan Huo is compelled to assume a new persona as “Zhao Yun” and serve under Liu Bei. Over time, a growing rift emerges between the two former comrades and friends.
