IMO it ís difficult to find the right balance between story telling and fighting plots in donghuas, espacialy in long donghuas. Whereas the viewer of this donghua has been spoiled with too many fights in the past of season 5 so every story plot feels draggy and more like a filler. To have more fights they gave some opponents a thick plot amor, so ML can fight those more then once. That is why even those fights feel empty and unnessecary and even draggy.
A good example for a good mix, between fighting and story plot, is the donghua “A Record of Mortal’s Journey to Immortality”. You could also call it lazy writing at this point bc story plot is now not really important anymore.
