Unfortunately, ever since Tencent began taking over the production of many previously excellent donghua series, the overall quality has taken a noticeable downturn. What once offered depth, atmosphere, and meaningful character arcs has been replaced by shallow, formulaic storytelling propped up by flashy, repetitive combat sequences.
Most of the 10C‑produced shows feel like they’re built on the same assembly line—visually loud but emotionally empty, prioritizing spectacle over substance. Expecting anything better from them at this point feels counterintuitive, because the creative spark that used to define these series has been overshadowed by mass‑production efficiency.
And honestly, I’m just hoping that Renegade Immortal doesn’t plummet to the same unwatchable level that Battle Through the Heavens has reached. It would be a real shame to see another promising adaptation dragged down by the same pattern of declining quality.
At this stage, I won’t be commenting on this series any further. I’ve completely lost interest.
It is boring since they changed production and first and foremost its because it gained a lot of popularity in china too, so the gov acted as to control the vieweship because a lot of children yess its popular towards children too so they change it. I forgot which reddit page, remember the first supposed to be S*x scene between xiao yan and cai lin? theres 2 version of it because it is the turning point from they change a lot of the story. And second, because china strictly forbid the multimarriage (polygamy) so they intended to make only 1 wife for Xiao Yan and some chinese forum said they’ll make Xun Er the legal wife, and because of this XIAO XIAO ORIGIN IS become VAGUE!! you can find it at post credit Xiao xiao dont have any Voice Actress. Finally, they wont make xiao xiao that important until the Other Donghua (The Great Ruler) season 2 start.
