@Spirit-Mouse Ning Changjiu lacking spiritual power is one of the main plot lines of this arc, he has only his brains and his experiences from the future to draw on in order to survive. Sure the smart thing would have been to just kill his junior and fox demon seed along with her but he clearly has a conscience and a plan to save her. I also don’t know why you think he got beaten when he planned that entire outcome. Using Lu Jiajia’s sword wasn’t just to defend himself, it was to draw her into the fight so he could set up the formation. You’ve missed the forest for the trees.
