I don’t know what happened in the writers’ room, but Swallowed Star Season 4 feels like it was hijacked by a team of interns on a sugar rush. Luo Feng, once a symbol of grit and growth, now prances around like he’s auditioning for a slapstick comedy. The dancing? The self-proclaimed “madman” persona? It’s like they’re actively trying to dismantle everything that made him compelling.
The emotional depth and strategic brilliance that defined earlier seasons have been replaced with erratic behavior and cringe-worthy theatrics. It’s hard to take the story seriously when the protagonist seems to be parodying himself.
And let’s talk production: the animation still sparkles, but the writing feels like it was outsourced to a group of kids playing with action figures. The tone is inconsistent, the pacing is chaotic, and the character arcs are spiraling into nonsense.
If this is the “evolution” of Luo Feng, then I’d rather rewind to Season 2 and pretend this fever dream never happened.

t’s getting more ridiculous with each episode. Really hard to watch this nonsense.
Why do they keep erasing novel chapters from the donghua?! They avoided other fights before this one, where the group ‘bonded’ bit by bit, instead of jumping straight to this one… They are also changing the characters, and their dynamic! These animators think we care about these characters just because we saw them watching movies like teenagers? Something that didn’t happen in the novel and that goes against the ‘war’ concept of this plot? This is putting down our throat a childish friendship plot while avoiding the necessary steps to actually make us care about these characters… Awful, just AWFUL.
