I loved the first season, but this one feels different. It’s flashier, more focused on the fights than the story, and so far I’m not impressed. Hoping it picks up, but right now it just doesn’t have the same charm.
What have I been watching?
They look so strange.
In the first season, they were aristocratic and stylish.

Tencent’s influence has completely warped studios like Motion Magic. Everything gets shoved into the same bland, factory‑stamped narrative template, and Battle Through the Heavens is the clearest proof of how a promising donghua can be dragged straight into the gutter. Tencent doesn’t own Motion Magic, but it doesn’t have to — the 10c platform dictates the pace, the budget, the tone, and the deadlines, pumping out more donghua while stripping every project of its identity. Under Tencent’s control, this series isn’t just stagnating; it’s on a one‑way slide downward. I’ve stopped pretending it will ever recover.
Feels like most donghua releasing are using something akin to Unreal Engine 5 to pump out as much content without having to animate anything. All the shows releasing look the same, and it feels like they don’t even have a director to dictate the style, to match the previous season of the show. MC doesn’t even look like himself anymore.
